Everyone’s favourite, family holiday destination is set to open a beverage bar that’s little more suited to the adult visitors. Disneyland has had its sights set on opening a brewery for a while now but it has finally become official and the whole world seems to approve.
The brewery is to be a collaboration between Disneyland and Ballast Point Brewing, and the 7,300 square foot brewery is set to be created in a part of Downtown Disney and consist of both a bar and a restaurant. The restaurant has been planned to offer food that is typical of Southern Californian cuisine, keeping things fresh and local with seasonal menu options, many of which will have beer in their recipes. Menu items that patrons can expect will be tacos and pretzels topped with beer mustard, but there are many surprises in store- Disney doesn’t want to give everything away just yet.
Meanwhile the bar will serve special, Disney-inspired beers as well as a few Ballast Point favourites, such as their Sculpin IPA and Commodore American Stout. The brewery can be described as a ‘research and development’ brewery, containing a 3-barrel tap-room as well as a beer garden. Although beer will only be served to customers that are over 21, who have valid identity, Disney has assured the premises will still be family friendly- with a special family seating area.
Disney estimates that around half of its visitors are local Californians, who should be familiar with Ballast Point and their tasty beers. Disney hopes that locals appreciate them supporting local business and that So-Cal residents will support the brewery. Disney is equally excited about introducing Ballast Point’s creations to its other visitors from around the world.
Ballast Point is fast becoming a popular brewery brand, with Disney being its seventh brewery in California, which the company is exceptionally excited about. On top of the Disney preparation, Ballast Point is also preparing to open another brewery in Chicago later this year.
Disney expects the brewery to be up and running by late 2018. The happiest place on earth is about to get even happier!
